Former United States goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes that there are brighter days ahead for the national team. He believes that there are some good players coming through the youth team and that this will provide a good pool of players for the national team in the future years.

He said that there has been plenty of criticism geared towards the development system after the United States failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia but for him this is unfair. He believes that the system is working well and that whoever is named as the new coach of the senior side will have a lot of talented young players to choose from.

Both teams had in decent form coming into the game but it was Brad Friedel’s team that had the best start. The visitors raced to a 2-0 lead just after half-time and it seemed that they would be heading for the first away victory in three matches. However, it was not to be the case with Vancouver staging an impressive comeback. The game finished as a 3-3 draw and it piled up on the disappointment for New England.

Friedel is in his first job as the manager at a club. The former Tottenham and Blackburn goalkeeper has had an indifferent start to his first managerial job, as New England have been unable to string together a consistent set of results. This is down to a weak defence.

However, the former Tottenham and Blackburn goalkeeper has made a disastrous start in his new role. The team has picked up just one win in three league matches, although they are unbeaten in the last two.

The Revolution made a losing start to the season after a poor loss against Philadelphia Union in the first match. Even though the last two matches have been at home in New England, the games at the Gillette stadium have not provided the team with enough three points. After the recent with New York City, Brad Friedel admitted that his team was maybe only at 70% of the fitness levels that he likes to have in the setup.

New England Revolution manager Brad Friedel claims that he has learned a lot from the game over his extended career as a goalkeeper. The 46-year-old played for the likes of Blackburn and Tottenham during a lengthy career, which primarily saw him play his football in the Premier league.

After recently returning back to the United States, Friedel has been expressing an interest in the coaching side of things. He received his first major break as the manager of the under 19 United States team. Now, he has just been appointed as the coach of New England Revolution, who had a pretty mediocre 2017 MLS campaign.

The lack of experience has been cited as a concern for New England Revolution ahead of the 2018 campaign. However, Friedel says that he has gained an impressive knowledge of managing the game over the course of his two decade long career. Since starting out in 1994, Friedel made the switch to European football in 1995 with Galatasaray. Even though he briefly returned to the United States for a spell with Columbus Crew, he is largely known for his time in English football with the likes of Liverpool, Blackburn, Aston Villa, and Tottenham. Since his retirement in 2015, he has been working with a lot of coaches too. After having played under several top coaches in his career, Friedel says that he will look to transfer the experience into the MLS.

Brad Friedel has taken over the head-coaching job at New England Revolution in the MLS and is the first management role of his career for the 46-year-old.

The former USA, Aston Villa, and Blackburn goalkeeper took over the reins earlier this week having been coach for the United States under-19 team.
