Brad Friedel signs new Spurs contract

Tottenham Hotspur have retained the services of veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel by signing him on to a new one year contract extension as well as handing him an ambassadorial role at the club which will see him promote Spurs in his homeland at the United States of America.

The former United States National Men’s Team or USMNT goalkeeper was out of contract in the summer but Spurs have decided to retain his services by a further one year as back up for Frenchman Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel has stated that outgoing manager Tim Sherwood can be proud of his achievements within the club. Sherwood was sacked from the managerial role after failing to get the club into the top four of the Premier league. However, he leaves the club with the best record ever from Tottenham manager with a win rate of more than 50%. Sherwood did a great job to stabilise the club after they had just parted company with Andre Villas-Boas midway through the season.
