FRIEDEL LEFT OUT

The 42 years old goalkeeper of Tottenham Brad Friedel has been left out of the main squad ever since the club signed Hugo Lloris in a transfer fee of €10 million.

Even though the manager of Tottenham Andre Villas-Boas had already stated that the American goalkeeper would remain as his number one choice, it does not seem as his words were actually valid.

The last encounter that Brad Friedel made a full appearance was in Tottenham’s encounter against Aston Villa during the Capital One Cup but other than that match all the others was Hugo Lloris in the goalkeeper position.

Friedel made a number of impressive performances for the English Premier League but it just was not enough for him to secure a consistent spot. Even with the consistent bench warming he’s been forced to do, a contract extension was made with the club which will keep him with Tottenham until 2014. The likes of Unibet have now started offering a sports bet market on where he will be playing after that - with MLS the main favourite.

Columbus Crew has a new candidate to fill in the spot of being a head coach and it is Brad Friedel after he was interviewed by the club in what might be a potential coaching spot for the upcoming. He has past experienced with the MLS after claiming the Goalkeeper of the Year award back in 1997.

It seems to be the right choice for the veteran goalkeeper taking into consideration his current place with Tottenham that sees him doing more sitting down than anything else and with the success of Hugo Lloris there are no signs of the French goalkeeper to be removed as the 1st choice of Andre Villas-Boas.

He also made 82 caps with the US national team during the years 1992-2004 while on Tottenham he has made 49 appearances since joining the club in 2011.
