Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel has said that he is extremely happy with the season that has just concluded. The former Aston Villa goalkeeper moved to London to play for Tottenham in the summer on a free transfer.
His form has been extremely good in such a way that he has been able to keep out a much younger Gomes. Brad Friedel managed to keep 14 clean sheets during the season in which Tottenham almost qualified for the Champions League. However, the London club will not be able to play in the competition due to the fact that Chelsea will be in it as the defending champions.
Tottenham finished the last season in the fourth position, which was the second time they have achieved the feat in the last three seasons. The American goalkeeper has been a regular for Tottenham this season. Even though he has been exposed in some matches like the 5-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final, he has been largely impressive in the matches for Tottenham this season. Even though he is coming to the end of his career, Brad Friedel expects to carry on playing for Tottenham next season as well.
"A good defensive record is always the base for a successful team. Clean sheets are a cumulative effort, it's not just the work of one person. As a goalkeeper, obviously you always go out and try not to concede goals so if you keep a clean sheet, you feel like you've done your job. But I would much rather win the game 2-1 and get the three points than draw 0-0 and just get one. Every goalkeeper is pleased when they record a clean sheet," said Brad Friedel after the conclusion of the 2011-12 Premier league season.
